So we launched our AW16 Collection at the weekend and were blown away by not only the volume of sales, but the enthusiasm and goodwill that we were surrounded by, not to mention the raucous laughter, hubbub (is that actually a word?) and chitter chatter!
Vix and I were lucky enough to have been donated space in the conservatory at the beautiful boutique hotel, Stanwell House, in Lymington so we decided to coincide our launch with the ‘Macmillan - World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, hold a cake raffle and donate a percentage of our sales to this incredible charity.
As a ‘Pop Up’ we can never estimate how busy each sale is going to be so we order our stock accordingly and play the ‘anticipation’ game – it’s a bit like freezer foil surprise! This can be dicey when there is another event just a few days later but it’s also part of the fun and it means that we stick to our overall plan of having different stock every time we open.
Because the sun continued to shine so far into September we actually held the launch back by a fortnight as no-one needs to be trying on chunky knits with bare legs and flip flops, trying on Poms with beach hair, or buying seasonal decorations and having to stick them in a twinkly summer basket full of damp swimwear!
It seems that our customers are utterly ready for the seasonal change, and there was more than one mention of there being ‘just two more pay days’ until Christmas. There is nothing like a fast moving countdown to galvanise us all into action.
